One of the members in our club recently built the Dragon 1/48 Ju-188 E1, and it inspired me to pull out the old Italeri A/E kit I had in the stash. It was a pretty low-parts-count kit, so thought it might be a fairly quick build, but pretty I'm not sure if the problem was one of my own making - not being careful enough when joining the wing halves - or the wings were just poorly molded. I've read a couple of build reviews of the Italeri Ju-87 by other people and its not been mentioned, so maybe it was just poor attention to detail on my part. Anyway - its solved now. Academy's and Italeri's fuselages are more narrow than the Fujimi kit, Academy's more so. It is a more easy task to take the Italeri nose, widen it and then fit to the Fujimi kit. Although not a D or G variant, Zvezda's Ju 87B looks quite good, particularly the tail section. Italeri has reissued their 1/48 Ju 87B-2 Stuka kit which was first released in 2010. If you haven't been paying attention, Italeri shifted their kit design emphasis from minimal detail/complexity to much more intricate/detailed offerings. This Stuka kit is a great example of the 'newer' Italeri. The cockpit layout reminds me of Accurate Description. The JU-87 Stuka was the standard ground attack plane and dive bomber of the German Air Force at the beginning of WWII. In spite of its mediocre characteristics it achieved considerable fame through the psychological impact it had on the population and on the enemy forces.
